The frighteningly popular iPad is quickly emerging as this generation's portable television, with programmers and, importantly, service providers rushing to make their services available via the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) device.

Among those offering or planning to offer iPad compatible services are Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), which has been hyping the device as a multi-tasking remote control, Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC-WI), Verizon (NYSE: VZ), TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) and Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH).

"It goes without saying the iPad is made for video consumption," noted Cory Bergman on the LostRemote site. "The iPad appears to be well on its way to changing the world of television."
