The new Horizon "TV Anywhere" box, to be showcased at Cable Congress in Lucerne, Switzerland, will ultimately destroy Google TV and/or Apple TV, Liberty Global (Nasdaq: LBTYA) CEO Mark Fries said, noting, "Google TV is still under construction. The content offered and the ease of use are unsatisfactory. The same is true for Apple TV."

The Horizon box, which Liberty unveiled last fall, will connect multiple devices within the home, including the Internet, to the TV, obviating the need for an outside source such as Google or Apple, said Fries. It will first roll out in the Netherlands and then move to Switzerland, probably in 2012.
