After a national search outside the company, recently reorganized Charter Communications looked inward and named Mike Lovett as its new president-CEO. Lovett had been serving on an interim basis for the past month and previously served as executive VP and COO since 2005. At the same time it was announcing Lovett's permanence, the MSO said that Eloise Schmitz, executive VP and CFO, will leave the company when her contract expires in July.

Lovett brings "impeccable industry credentials" to the permanent position, including positions with Centel Communications, Jones Intercable, AT&T Broadband, OneSecure and Voyant Technologies, said Charter Chairman Eric Zinterhofer in a company news release.

Elsewhere in the world of cable personnel, Canoe Ventures, cable's advanced advertising joint venture, appointed Bellwether Digital Bridge founder and CEO, Jim Garrity, the new chairman of an 11-person advisory board comprised of advertising industry professionals.
