John Malone's Liberty Global (Nasdaq: LBTYA) has consolidated its position in Poland by announcing it will spend $802 million to buy Polish cable TV operator Aster Sp. z.o.o. (and you thought Comcast was a weird name?) from Mid Europa Partners.

Liberty already owns another Polish player, UPC Polska Sp. z.o.o., the nation's largest MSO with 1.1 million customers. Aster will add 368,000 TV subs, 177,000 Internet customers and 70,000 phone users.
