Mediacom launches Synchronoss mobile customer service application

Mediacom launched customer service applications called MediacomConnect that allow subscribers to pay their cable bills and schedule service appointments with an Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone or iPad, or mobile devices running Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android platform.

The MSO said Tuesday that Bridgewater, N.J.-based Synchronoss built the applications, which also enable subscribers to troubleshoot problems with their cable service. The MediacomConnect apps could also help Mediacom improve its customer service reputation with subscribers, and reduce expenses from reduced truck rolls and phone calls to its customer service centers.

Mediacom ranked at the bottom of a list of the top triple-play providers that Consumer Reports released in May. The mobile customer service apps mark its latest investments in customer service.  Mediacom announced in March that it would begin scheduling weekend and evening appointments, and offer 30-minute arrival windows to subscribers that pick the first appointments available in the morning or afternoon. It has also purchased new uniforms for field personnel.
