Mediacom, Wide Open West drop out of Insight auction
Insight Communications is struggling to find a buyer for its cable systems in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois.
Suitors Mediacom Communications and Wide Open West have dropped out of the auction for Insight's cable systems, Multichannel News reported Monday, citing unnamed sources. Insight owners The Carlyle Group, MidOcean Partners and Crestview partners may be forced to shut down the auction and continue operating Insight's systems themselves, or lower their price for Insight's cable systems.
Insight spokesperson Sandy Colony declined to comment on questions related to the auction Monday morning.
Founded in 1985, New York-based Insight counts 693,000 subscribers. Michael Willner, Insight's CEO, is a former chairman of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA).
