Cable set-top and mobile phone manufacturer Motorola Mobility (NYSE: MMI) will slash about 800 jobs, the company disclosed in an SEC filing.

The company, which agreed to a $12.5 billion merger with Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) in August, said it will incur $31 million in costs from the layoffs, including $27 million in severance pay and $4 million from closing down facilities.
