NBC Sports Network announced it has acquired multiyear rights from DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) to air the satellite company's "The Dan Patrick Show," a move which among other things allows the NBC sports channel to jump from the cable wasteland of Channel 603 on DirecTV systems to the much more desirable Channel 220, where it will live along with the sports programming pack.

The show debuted on NBC Sports Network today, and will air weekday mornings from 9 a.m.–Noon ET, with a "Best Of..." version of the show airing weekday afternoons from 4-5 p.m. ET.

Former ESPN star Patrick has worked for NBC's "Football Night in America" and the network's Olympic coverage for both the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and the 2012 London Summer Olympics. On NBC Sports Network, his show will follow "The 'Lights," a new highlights show launched this past summer.

"The Dan Patrick Show" began airing exclusively on DirecTV on Aug. 3, 2009. Patrick left long-time employer ESPN back in 2007.
