About half of Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) streaming customers are connecting to the service via video game consoles, according to new research from Nielsen. The figure may come as a surprise, and appears in contrast to Hulu viewing habits, which show that about 89 percent of Hulu viewers access the site via PCs.

Netflix has quickly found an audience on game consoles at a time when the devices are increasingly being viewed as alternatives to traditional set-top boxes. Nielsen also reports that streaming from PCs to TVs is becoming more frequent among users of both services.
