Netgear said to be working on Google TV set-top
The site GTVHacker dug up documentation on a device called the Netgear NeoTV Prime that, the site said, is a "generation 2 Google TV box" that should have similar hardware to the Vizio Co-Star "but with a different case."
More importantly, the Netgear device is expected to have a custom UI to differentiate it from Google TV competitors, although the site said that bit of information has not been confirmed.
Details released in the story and at the FCC indicate the device will offer 802.11n wireless connectivity along with Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity for its remote control. That remote control includes a full QWERTY keyboard on one side and a directional touchpad, menu buttons, volume buttons, channel buttons and other video controls on the other.
Also on tap at the FCC--which recently reviewed a Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) IPTV set-top, surely evidence that the set-top box is not as dead as its mourners would suggest--is the Asus Qube, another Google TV box, the story said.
