Parks: 75% of connected TV owners watch OTT video

The number of consumers with connected TVs from Samsung, Sony and other CE manufacturers that watch over-the-top video has increased to 75 percent compared to 57 percent last year, according to a research report from Parks Associates. The firm said that the number of TV owners who are using Internet connected devices to watch online video has increased by 30 percent in the last six months. But many consumers who buy a smart TV that can be connected to the Internet via WiFi or Ethernet connections don't actually set up an Internet connection. Parks said it found that 56 percent of consumers that buy a smart TV connect the device to the Internet, compared to 40 percent in 2010. Read more...
