Blair Levin is leaving his position as broadband plan advisor with the FCC to join the Aspen Institute as a communications and society fellow. Levin, closely associated with the Commission's controversial National Broadband Plan (NBP) was "masterful in providing wisdom to the Commission," said a statement attributed to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, who further called the plan a "good start on a broadband deployment and adoption road map."

Levin had always indicated the FCC gig was a short term thing.

Elsewhere in the world of personnel moves, Canoe Ventures, the interactive advertising joint venture of Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable has added Gerard Broussard as its newly designated vice president of research and analytics.

Broussard, previously managing partner at MediaLab, is charged with managing advanced advertising campaign reporting and analytics along with campaign optimization tools and research studies for the nascent cable operation. Canoe, which had been sitting low and quiet in the water for a while, has been making waves of late with personnel moves, hiring and even a new headquarters.
