Everything's pushed up these days. Back-to-school sales start before the school year ends; Christmas music plays in malls on Labor Day; and WALB-TV in Georgia warns viewers in July that they may lose the station's signal if a retransmission deal isn't cut with Mediacom ... by Dec. 31.

In a "news" item posted on WALB-TV's News 10 Web site, the Albany, Ga. station warned: "Our parent company Raycom Media is currently in negotiations with Mediacom. If Raycom and Medicaom cannot reach an agreement, WALB-TV will be removed from the Mediacom lineup. That means you will no longer be able to watch WALB News 10 after Dec. 31."
