Cisco has tapped former Microsoft executive Enrique Rodriguez to lead its Service Provider Video Technology Group (formerly known as Scientific Atlanta).

Rodriguez was formerly corporate vice president for the TV, video and music business unit at Microsoft, Multichannel News reports, which among other things manages the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV platform that powers AT&T's U-verse television.

Pankaj Patel, SVP and GM of Cisco's Service Provider Group, will continue to oversee the Service Provider Video Technology Group.
