Davidson spent 16 years at Comcast, and had been a vice president at the cable MSO for the last decade. He worked in network operations, engineering and telephony at Comcast and AT&T Broadband, which Comcast acquired in 2003. Davidson worked earlier at Raytheon Co. (NYSE: RTN).
SCTE said Davidson will be responsible for identifying technical trends and industry needs, and driving the expansion of its professional development program.
"Marty Davidson's background will be invaluable as we expand the engineering resources that SCTE makes available to the industry," SCTE CTO Daniel Howard said in a prepared statement. "We believe the analytical skills, the operational experience and the technical knowledge he has honed at every step in his career will contribute significantly to our development of new programs and materials that can help cable to reduce cost, optimize network performance and enhance customer satisfaction," he added.
