Service Electric has agreed to acquire Shenandoah, Pa.-based cable operator Shen-Heights TV Associates, according to a local newspaper report.

The MSO, which counts about 217,000 subscribers in Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey, expects to announce the deal in the near future, Service Electric General Manager Timothy Trently told the Republican-Herald. Shen-Heights President Martin Brophy has already requested that officials in Shenandoah and West Mahanoy Township allow the Shen-Heights cable franchises to be transferred to Service Electric, according to the report.

Shen-Heights is one of the nation's oldest cable operators. The family-owned company was founded in 1951 by Frank Brophy and Albert Kersewicz.
