Even as Apple was making waves with its Apple TV pay-per-view deal, live television provider Sezmi said it's cut a deal with online retail icon Amazon to make its service available in 36 U.S. markets.

This follows up on news that Sezmi was selling $149 reception centers and media players via Best Buy.

Sezmi's model differs from the new Apple TV deal. It offers live television and on-demand movies, Web videos and even an HD DVR for $4.99 in a base package and $19.99 a month in an expand package. Amazon will sell the hardware on its website.
