Spending on optical networking gear surges to $3.6B

In today's spotlight, FierceTelecom takes a look at increased spending from telecom providers on optical networking equipment. Purchases of optical networking equipment, including WDM and SONET/SDH, jumped 8 percent globally from Q3 to Q4 to $3.6 billion, according to Infonetics Research. The overall optical network hardware market increased 9 percent in 2011, with WDM and ROADM spending jumping 22 percent and 36 percent respectively for the year. Read more...
