In a move that could help it compete with rivals HBO and Showtime, Starz will launch soon launch an application that will allow subscribers to watch its movies and original series on mobile devices, president Chris Albrecht said Thursday.

While Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH) and some other Starz affiliates already allow subscribers to access movies on their TV Everywhere Websites, Starz hasn't had a mobile application similar to HBO Go.

Albrecht also said Starz is open to the idea of licensing its network to non-pay TV subscribers that order high-speed Internet services. New premium network Epix, which is owned by Viacom, is also pursuing that model, pitching it as a network cable operators could offer to subscribers that order faster Internet tiers.
