Suddenlink boosts revenue 7%, despite subscriber losses
While Suddenlink Communications lost 24,000 basic video customers during the second quarter, the MSO grew its average monthly revenue per subscriber by 10 percent to $124.74.
The seventh largest U.S. cable operator said second-quarter revenue increased 7.2 percent, thanks mostly to a gain in new telephone, high-speed Internet and digital video subscribers. It blamed basic video subscriber losses on limited marketing efforts at cable systems that it acquired earlier this year from NPG Cable.
Suddenlink ended the second quarter with 1.27 million basic video, 732,100 digital video, 914,200 high-speed Internet and 409,900 telephone subscribers.
The MSO said it also posted increased revenue from rentals of high-definition set-tops and DVRs, and that it grew home networking revenue. Revenue from telephone subscribers jumped 21.7 percent.
