AT&T U-Verse misses AllVid gateway mark

If misery loves company, MSOs can take some solace in the fact that AT&T's U-verse TV service right now would not meet the FCC's new AllVid IP gateway requirements for third party consumer electronics access.

An analysis by Multichannel News concludes that AT&T can only deliver four SD and two or three HD streams to each subscriber as opposed to the FCC's requirement of six simultaneous streams. However, AT&T maintains that it can deliver up to four live SD channels and four DVR recordings so it would meet the letter of the law by delivering eight different video streams.
