Technologists and personalities partner on Internet-based TV network

A diverse group of technology geeks and entertainers have joined forces to create an Internet-based TV network called This Week In. The start-up closed a $300,000 "angel round" of financing from investors including Jason Calacanis (credited with launching 100 blogs with Weblogs), Sky Dayton (founder of EarthLink and Boingo) and Matt Coffin (founder of LowerMyBills.com). Also lending support to the venture is actor Kevin Pollak, although his name is not among those listed as investors.

Mark Jeffrey (former CTO of Mahalo.com) has assumed leadership of the venture and the titles of co-founder and CEO.

"The timing for a network like This Week In is finally right," said Jeffrey. "With the popularity of podcast-playing devices like the iPad and offerings like Boxee bringing Web video to living room television screens, high quality programming can now be delivered via IP with the same potential for viewership as a cable channel."
