Time Warner Cable integrates geolocation technology in redesign of TWC.com

Move comes soon after management reorganization

Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) redesigned its TWC.com website, with its e-commerce team focusing on pushing sales of its digital cable, high-speed Internet and voice services.

The MSO said the new site uses geolocation technology to pitch offers to Web surfers based on which part of the country they are accessing the site from. For example, users in upstate New York visiting the site on Wednesday saw a promotion in which Time Warner Cable is offering discounted tickets to the Albany Devils, a minor league hockey team.

Time Warner Cable announced a management reorganization last week that centralizes its operations. It has also centralized its Web marketing under TWC.com. The MSO had previously used several different URLs assigned to its divisions nationwide, such as New York City's TWCNYC.com.

The site redesign comes as Time Warner Cable is increasing its marketing efforts. The MSO plans to run a new ad during CBS's coverage of the Super Bowl on Sunday.
