Nearly three years after Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) was spun off as a separate public company from Time Warner Inc., (NYSE: TWX) the cable MSO has reached an agreement that will give its subscribers access to movies and TV series from Time Warner's flagship premium network HBO through the Web and mobile devices.

Time Warner Cable said Friday that it expects to offer subscribers access to the HBO Go and MAX Go Websites next month, following a brief beta period. HBO has also built apps for Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPad and mobile devices running Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android platform that let pay TV subscribers access its library of movies and original series such as Boardwalk Empire, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Sopranos.

Most major pay TV distributors already have deals with Time Warner that allow their subscribers to access streaming video from HBO and Cinemax, including cable overbuilders AT&T (NYSE: T) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ). Time Warner Cable's delay in reaching an agreement had drawn attention since the nation's second largest cable MSO used to share the same corporate parent as HBO.
