U.S. vendors are tapping the giant cable television market in China with equipment deals for advanced HDTV and DVR services. Entropic Communications said it is selling its Ethernet over coax solution to Panyu Cable to serve multi-dwelling units in the Guangdong province and deliver on-demand and data applications.

The Hunan Cable Group, meanwhile, has launched HDTV service and expanded its on-demand offering with Harmonic's digital video delivery technology. Hunan Cable serves more than five million subscribers in the Hunan Province.

Finally, Broadcom said it has entered into a partnership with Chinese set-top box maker Coship to develop high definition set-top boxes for Shenzen-based cable operator Topway. The boxes will incorporate Broadcom's system on a chip (SoC) silicon to provide HD and DVR capabilities.
