Verizon FiOS scores streaming video rights to NFL Network and RedZone channel
Verizon (NYSE: VZ) said Thursday that it struck a TV Everywhere authentication deal with the National Football League which will allow it to stream live programming from NFL Network and the RedZone channel to FiOS TV subscribers.
The agreement lets Verizon add a "Watch NFL Network" button to its FiOS TV Online portal, which also offers access to online video from HBO, Epix, ESPN and networks owned by Viacom (NYSE: VIA) and Turner Broadcasting.
Look for the NFL to announce similar agreements with other pay TV providers. "This authentication agreement with Verizon is part of a larger NFL Media initiative to deliver NFL content to fans and consumers in as many ways possible," NFL SVP of media strategy and development Hans Schroeder said in prepared statement.
