The FiOS Football app for iPad |
The free FiOS Football app lets subscribers watch live video from the RedZone channel anywhere in their home within range of their FiOS Internet WiFi router. RedZone is designed to show viewers teams that are close to scoring touchdowns. It whips around to various live NFL games once a team is inside the 20-yard line.
DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) is the only pay TV provider with access to the NFL Sunday Ticket subscription package, which lets its subscribers watch every weekly NFL game. The RedZone app could appeal to Verizon fans who don't have access to Sunday Ticket, but want to track games that aren't offered in their local markets.
