Verizon, Metro PCS fight FCC net neutrality rules
Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS) insist that the FCC made a mistake by applying common-carrier regulations to broadband providers when it issued its net neutrality rules last year. The telcos, which filed a joint brief Monday in a lawsuit aimed at overturning the rules, argued that the rulemaking proceeding the FCC conducted exceeded its statutory authority. Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) and other Internet video content suppliers have fought for net neutrality rules, which they say will prevent broadband providers from throttling content supplied by rivals.
