New subscription-free digital TV and catch-up TV service and set-top box purveyor YouView is looking for a new chairman--again--after Lord Sugar, its non-executive chairman, announced that he would be leaving the company "in the next few weeks."
British telco TalkTalk claims it has hit the 29,000 subscriber mark since launching its IPTV video service in September and that it is adding about 1,000 subscribers a day based on "good demand following the launch of our marketing campaign in October."
BT has hit yet another speed bump in its long-delayed YouView launch. The Pace Plc set-top boxes it expected to deploy are not ready for prime time and the telco has to fill in with units from Humax.
If timing is everything, YouView--the collaboration between BT, TalkTalk, the BBC, ITV and Channel 4--has some really interesting clockwork. For the last two years the service has been on-again/off-again as technology bugs and other matters delayed launch.
