Schurz Communications picked up about 10,000 subscribers through a deal it struck to acquire a cable system from Orbitel Communications in Maricopa, Ariz.
Based in South Bend, Indiana, Schurz also operates three cable systems counting about 90,000 subscribers in Coral Springs, Fla., Hagerstown, Md., and Sun Lakes, Ariz. Schurz said the Orbitel system it acquired offers subscribers digital video, high-speed Internet and voice products on an 870 MHz network.
Schurz said Monday that it closed the acquisition of the Orbitel system, which it bought from MGC Capital. Waller Capital brokered the deal for Schurz, while RBC Capital advised Orbitel and MGC on the agreement.
