Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) is beginning to pitch businesses in San Mateo, Calif., high-speed Internet service with speeds of up to 100 megabits per second. The MSO says it will also offer bandwidth up to 10 gigabits per second to "businesses with the largest data needs."
The MSO teamed up with the San Mateo Chamber of Commerce to use the offering from its Comcast Business Services units to draw businesses to the San Francisco Bay-area community. Comcast and the city announced the completion of their "Digital Downtown" project at an event Tuesday night.
Last fall, Comcast upgraded its network in downtown Boston to deliver Internet access at speeds of up to 100 Mbps in the city's Innovation District. The MSO charges $370 monthly for the 100 Mbps service.
