Comcast cutting 450 NBC Universal employees

Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) is eliminating about 450 jobs from its NBC Universal subsidiary, with the cuts impacting programs ranging from NBC's The Tonight Show to original series on G4, the cable network focused on videogames.

USA Network, Bravo, E! Entertainment Television, SyFy and Universal Pictures will cut some of their employees, according to Deadine Hollywood, which first reported news of the layoffs on Monday. About 1.5 percent of 30,000 NBCU employees are expected to lose their jobs by Dec. 31, under the restructuring.

Comcast has also restructured some of its cable system operations this year. In September, it announced that it would close three call centers staffed by 1,000 employees in California , and shift calls handled by those facilities to call centers in Denver, Seattle and Portland, Ore. It has also restructured operations in several other states, including Illinois, Tennessee and Florida.
