Dynamic ad-insertion technology vendor This Technology Inc. said Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) FiOS TV have deployed its software, which allows pay TV providers to insert ads in free video-on-demand programming from Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CBS and other cable and broadcast networks.
The New York-based startup, which announced Thursday that it raised $7.5 million in Series A financing that was led by General Catalyst Partners, said its customers also include ABC and NBCUniversal. This Technology competes against vendors such as BlackArrow, which supplies ad-insertion technology to Comcast, Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and Rogers Communications (NYSE: RCI). This Technology said it also supports network DVRs, IPTV and mobile devices.
Last month, This Technology announced that it opened a Denver office that is led by former Time Warner Cable executive Bryan Santangelo, former Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) executive John Mick and former Edgeware and BigBand executive Sean Rooney.
The company said Thursday that in connection with its financing, General Catalyst Partners managing director Neil Sequeira joined its board of directors.
