Cable operators, satellite TV providers and telcos lost 366,000 video subscribers combined during the second quarter, SNL Kagan said Tuesday.
While video subscriber losses increased compared to the first quarter of 2013, Kagan noted that multichannel providers reduced subscriber losses by 11 percent compared to the second quarter of 2012.
Cable operators have lost about 1.8 million basic video subscribers in the last 12 months, with their share of the pay TV business dropping to 55.3 percent, according to Kagan.
Kagan's estimates were similar to those of Leichtman Research Group, which estimated that pay TV providers lost 345,000 subscribers in the second quarter.
