Increase would mark first growth since Q1 2007

Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) may report on Wednesday that it gained basic video subscribers during the fourth quarter, Oppenheimer analyst Tim Horan predicted in a research note on Monday.

If the nation's largest cable MSO is able to report an increase in video subscribers, it would mark the first time since the first quarter of 2007 that it has gained basic cable customers. Comcast lost 17,000 subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2011. It reported in October that it lost 117,000 video subscribers in the third quarter of 2012.

Last month, Jefferies & Co. predicted Comcast would report that it lost 12,000 video subscribers in the fourth quarter. The MSO is scheduled to release its Q4 report Wednesday morning.
