Bright House, Comcast, Verizon team up on local ad sales in Tampa
Bright House Networks is teaming up with rival Verizon (NYSE: VZ) to sell local cable advertising in the Tampa, Fla., market. The cable MSO has formed an advertising interconnect in Tampa that will see it sell ads that will be delivered to Verizon's FiOS TV subscribers, in addition to subscribers from Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) and cable overbuilder Knology.
It's not unusual for rival pay TV distributors to combine forces on local ad sales through advertising interconnects. Comcast, Charter (Nasdaq: CHTR) and other MSOs have teamed up with Verizon (Nasdaq: DTV) and AT&T's (NYSE: T) U-verse TV in several other local markets, and DirecTV has a deal with cable advertising rep firm NCC Media that helps it sell local inventory.
