Comcast closed its merger with NBCU last year. It agreed to several merger conditions, including making affordable high-speed Internet access available to low-income households, and complying with the FCC's net neutrality rules.
Comcast said the legal and regulatory group will also be responsible for retaining outside counsel for regulatory matters at the FCC, FTC and other agencies, and work with attorneys on filings at the Securities and Exchange Commission and other federal, state and local agencies.
Charytan joined Comcast in November 2010, She worked earlier as a partner and chair of the communications, privacy and Internet law practice at D.C. law firm WilmerHale. Comcast said Charytan will report "substantively" to Kyle McSlarrow, the former NCTA president who now oversees its lobbying operations as president of Comcast/NBCUniversal D.C.
