Comcast recruits DirecTV exec for business intelligence position; promotes Jenckes, Khoury, Charytan
Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) said Wednesday that it hired former DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) executive Ed Brassel for a business intelligence job, and that it promoted three senior executives at its corporate headquarters.
The MSO said it created a new position for Brassel: SVP of business intelligence for its cable division. Brassel, who reports to Comcast Cable CEO Neil Smit, had been SVP of marketing and business analytics at DirecTV, where he managed subscriber analytics and audience measurement. He also worked previously at H.J. Heinz Company, cigarette manufacturer R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, customer relationship management firm Brierly+Partners and ad agency Omnicom.
"We created this role to take advantage of data assets at Comcast," Smit said in a prepared statement. "Ed and his team will provide a greater understanding of consumer dynamics which will inform our business decisions and help us build more customer-centric products and services," he added.
Comcast also said Monday that it promoted Marcien Jenckes to EVP in charge of its Consumer Services Group, which includes its video, Internet, phone and home automation products. The former AOL and Grab Networks executive reports to EVP and COO Dave Watson.
And Comcast said it promoted Lynn Charytan to SVP of legal and regulatory affairs and deputy general counsel Jennifer Khoury to SVP of corporate and digital communications. Charytan is a former partner at WilmerHale and in-house counsel to The Washington Post. Khoury worked previously as VP of corporate communications and VP of public relations at Comcast's New England region.
