Comcast targets hotels with launch of Business Hospitality product

Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) said Wednesday it is looking to deliver high-speed Internet, video programming and voice service to hotels with the launch of its Comcast Business Hospitality product suite.

The move comes just two days after top hotel entertainment provider LodgeNet announced that it had filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan. LodgeNet is also partnering with Comcast rival DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) to market its interactive video programming to hotel operators.

Comcast said its hotel product suite includes 60 HDTV networks, Business Hospitality Ethernet, which will deliver download speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, and Business Hospitality Internet, which will offer speeds up to 100 Mbps. The MSO said it will market the hotel product in cities nationwide where it owns cable systems.

"The needs of today's modern traveler are changing, and high-performance connectivity is now just as important as price, location and loyalty programs when selecting a hotel," Alexandra Sewell, Comcast Business Services senior director of hospitality services and cross-segment verticals, said in a prepared statement.
