Sonic's Ely: OTT to soon surpass broadcast TV

The speed at which devices are using over-the-top software stacks to add Internet connectivity is so fast that "pretty soon consumers are going to be watching these devices as much as they watch broadcast television," Sonic Solutions' President for Strategy Mark Ely says in a wide-ranging Q&A with FierceOnlineVideo.

Sonic was recently acquired by Rovi which "really has ... a tremendous position in the electronics space," Ely says during the Q&A. "They power the meta data for a huge amount of content" for a customer list of OTT content and service providers.
