Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is preparing to launch fixed home-based LTE wireless service to deliver broadband to markets where it hasn't constructed its FiOS network. The company has teamed up with DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) to trial a new antenna that can deliver wireless broadband, testing the product in Erie, Pa. Verizon CFO Fran Shammo discussed a fourth-quarter launch of the LTE product during Verizon's earnings call last week. Read more
